This week we all started using Carnival House for a minimum of two days a week. To celebrate this milestone moment, and the great opportunity to be able to collaborate face to face with colleagues once again, we had the opportunity to enjoy a number of live events.

To celebrate the launch of our next Good Day at CUK focus; Move more, feel better we held a Good Day event in the Atrium. What makes a good day at CUK is different for each of us, so the Good Day wellbeing hub features resources and guidance on what’s most important to you right now so you can have a #GoodDayAtCUK and help colleagues to have one too.

Colleagues were asked to set up a desk correctly at our workstation challenge. It’s something we should all spend a few minutes doing before we start work and it’s really easy to do when you follow a few simple steps

For fun, we timed everyone to see who was the quickest at the challenge and the winner is Chris Dooley.

Well done Chris and enjoy your prizes of Dr Chatterjee’s book, skipping rope and hand weights!

The Quays Leisure Centre also joined us in Carnival House Atrium promoting a number of offers for colleagues to enjoy. These are:

Employee networks are run by colleagues and all this week they’ve been in the Atrium to share more about what they do to support everyone at Carnival UK.

There are three employee-led networks championing diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) at Carnival UK. Athena promotes gender balance, Spectrum champions the LGBT+ community and allies, and m’power focuses on disabilities and health conditions.

They organise events and activities throughout the year so look out for these in the Weekly Update and on The Insider. Read more about your networks here.

Our employee-led networks invited Ben Smith, multi award-winning ultra-athlete and founder of Foundation 401, to Carnival House for a live, guest speaker event.

Ben shared his personal story, talking candidly to colleagues about his childhood experiences of pervasive bullying and mental and physical abuse that led to active suicidal intention in his teenage years. Living an unhappy, stressful and unhealthy adulthood, he suffered a TIA (incomplete stoke) which led him to begin his journey to finding out who he truly was, including running 401 marathons in 401 days and setting up the 401 Foundation to support mental health.

If you missed Ben, you can catch-up via the original Teams Live link here

We hope everyone enjoyed their time in Carnival House this week! Remember, if you have any questions about working from the office make sure you refer to our FAQs page or speak with your line manager.
