It’s been over 18 months since we formally set out our aspiration to become more flexible as an organisation in our approach to how things get done. This was born out of a desire to help you balance your responsibilities and interests outside of work as well as maximise our performance by giving you the opportunity to make choices about how you work best.
We’re really pleased that across the organisation, teams have been trying ways of working differently. It’s clear from your feedback though, that some teams are finding it more challenging than others. That’s why we’ve developed a simple framework around which discussions on flexible working can take place. It centres around three core principles:
- Is it healthy?
- Is it realistic?
- Is it fair?
We hope that this guide will help both line managers and team members understand their roles and responsibilities when it comes to thinking about working flexibly and it should drive open, honest, thoughtful and practical conversations. Download a copy of the flexible working conversation guide.
You can find the toolkit here: The Bridge > Ask HR > Shore HR > Employee Guides > Flexible Working Requests
We’re also running a number of sessions throughout July to give managers the opportunity to better understand what we mean by flexible working, discuss some of their challenges and share positive learning experiences. We hope this will let us create a better, and more consistent flexible working experience for everyone at Carnival UK. If you’d like to sign up for a session, visit Z:\Flexible working. There are 20 places per session – more will be added as needed.
