The Primary purpose of the Maritime Fleet Workforce team is to support our fleet people to run a safe, reliable and compliant operation across P&O Cruises and Cunard;

  • Maintaining our maritime establishment control & design of complement, complement optimisation / rationalisation, team strength management
  • Identifying & retaining Fleet talent and promoting from within
  • Dedicated officer career management from Cadet to Captain, Chief Engineer or Staff Electrotechnical Officer
  • Proactive Medical Leave management
  • Promotions – Key Stakeholders on promotion interviews and promotion assessment panels to ensure a consistent and fair approach is maintained and we’re promoting individuals with the right behaviours to be future leaders
  • Appraisal and Performance management – leading the behaviours onboard around performance management across leadership specifically focusing on underperformance.
  • Maritime Training – dedicated team who own the content, delivery and quality assurance of training our maritime people onboard

Sophie Shaughnessy

Senior Director, Maritime Fleet Workforce

Following a successful career with the Royal Navy as a qualified Marine Engineer I rose through the ranks onboard and then transitioned my career ashore.

Andy Walker

Senior Manager Maritime Fleet Workforce

I joined CUK in 2006 after a cadetship with Maritime London. I worked my way up the ranks to Deputy Captain over a period of 16 years at sea, which included a highlight of being part of the Britannia and Iona build teams.

Kristy Dawson

Manager Early Careers and Professional Development

I have been with CUK for over nine years having previously come from Eastleigh College and have looked after our fantastic cadet programme for the entire period.

Manager Maritime Careers and Promotion Deck

I’ve come to CUK from a background of having been a Senior deck officer for both Holland America Line and Virgin voyages over the last ten years.

I have 10 years seagoing experience in technical roles, including engineering and environmental compliance.

Nat Phelps

Manager Maritime Training

I joined Carnival UK as a Deck Cadet in September 2011, and attended Warsash Maritime Acadamy before qualifying as an Officer of the Watch in 2014.

Matt Selby

Consultant, Cadets & PDRs

I have worked for CUK for over ten years, having previously worked in multiple shore-based sectors of the industry, after leaving university with a Maritime degree.

Sian Mellor

Maritime Support Assistant

I’ve been with CUK for the last eight and a half years, starting off in the Contact Centre, then moving over to Maritime where I’ve worked as a Technical controller and also in the Tech Admin team.

Mark Beaumont

Fleet Safety Training Manager

After a successful career In the Royal Navy, I have worked for Carnival UK since 2012 both at Sea as a Fleet Safety Trainer and on shore and I have been in my current role as Fleet Safety Training Manger since 2016.
