We’re counting down the days until when we see the long-awaited return of our fifth P&O Cruises ship, Aurora. It’s been a long time since her operations were paused and now it’s time to reveal her new re-fit, ready for our colleagues to test on Thursday and of course our guests to enjoy from Monday.
Here’s what our colleagues have been up to in order to refresh, repair and refurbish the ship, working on improving guest areas and maintaining our service standards:
- 80% of the external structure was painted including the funnel which needed a 90 meter cherry picker
- After 23 months of anchoring, as you can imagine, there was a bit of work to be done on the anchor
- Various deck coverings have been replaced including the one around the Terrace Bar
- 40m2 of tile was repaired in the Horizon buffet
- 550 guest basins were replaced
- A new band stand canopy was added as well as an overhaul of the Atrium sculpture
- 4,500m2 of public and guest cabin carpet was replaced as well as new crew lino
