It’s not long now until we get to see Aurora bringing holiday happiness back to our guests but it couldn’t be done with the work of her amazing team on board!
That’s why, as part of Aurora’s return to service, we’re showcasing some of her ship’s company – today we caught up with Mar Joepet Recuenco Gaudier, Crew Services Administrator.
Before working onboard P&O Cruises I’ve worked as an Account Officer in a financing company in the Philippines. As a kid I’ve always dreamed of travelling the world and meeting new people whilst providing for my family back home. Fast forward to 2017 when I started living that dream as P&O Cruises welcomed me to be a part of its family. I started my career as Housekeeping Assistant which is now known as Hotel Assistant and managed to work my way to become an Administrator – Crew Services. I’ve worked on a few of our ships including Oceana, Ventura, Aurora and Britannia.
My tips for new ways of working are simple and that is follow our Culture Essentials and always be mindful of the rules and guidelines, especially during this pandemic.
Make sure that you follow protocols so that you don’t catch the virus, and likewise pass it on to other crew member/s, not only because we care for each other but also so that all of us can continue to enjoy the perks that go along with having minimal Covid cases.
After a long day of work I take every opportunity to go ashore whenever possible to eat local food, take pictures, meet the locals (observing Covid protocols and guidelines of course), call my family and sometimes just enjoy the opportunity to be alone and play Ukulele, whilst enjoying the beautiful views of the ports.
When we’re at sea I often go and take a walk outside on the open deck with my team and sparingly go to the gym and do a little run. If I feel a little physically exhausted I just sit around in the crew area and enjoy the company of my friends.
What I’m most excited about returning to service is that I would get to meet our beloved guests again, organise activities for the crew, get the chance to go to the beautiful ports and see Aurora and her sisters dance and glide to the horizon once again.
Good luck to all colleagues on Aurora as you return to service and create unforgettable holiday happiness. We know you’ll SHINE at everything you do!
