Honouring our HESS heroes

During the Operational Pause our ships have still been nominating and celebrating HESS Heroes onboard.

Some of our recent HESS heroes include…

Azura

Mohit Sheode, and Yogash Shankar Aade, are both Hotel Assistants. They took charge of the Muster Station during a crew drill when the first and second in charge were incapacitated (for drill purposes only).

Both did an excellent job and took charge of the Muster Station, including organising the seating, completing a lifejacket demonstration and arranging a full evacuation of the Muster Station to the deck.

Their diligence and forbearance when being presented with a situation that neither had ever experienced was truly exemplary. Neither knew that the situation would present itself, but both stepped into the roles without hesitation, performing admirably.

An excellent example of crew members feeling Empowered to step up into an important safety role.

Queen Victoria

Samuel Bagapuro, Galley Manager, Jayson Caripo and Aries Mangubat, Galley utilities, won the HESS Hero award on Queen Victoria.

They were described as the “the unsung heroes for their hard work behind the scenes in the galley. Not many crew get to see what happens behind the scenes. With the recent implementation of the self clearing system of the dishes, crew began to understand and appreciate how hard the utility galley works behind the dish wash and pot wash area.

In order to maintain our Environmental Compliance Plan, they have a huge responsibility in ensuring that all our food waste is segregated properly. It’s a difficult job but a very crucial one. They’re the last ones to finish work every day but they do it with pride and dignity.

An excellent example of a team working together to Respect and Protect their colleagues and the environment.

Arcadia

Job Christian Bacabag Agnes, Seaman/General Purpose 1, was nominated by a number of his colleagues for his dedication to safety. He always reminds the Deck Team about the importance of PPE and the need to wear safety goggles and safety shoes. An excellent example of following our Culture Essentials and Communicating with their colleagues to Respect and Protect them.
