During the Christmas period some of us may give or receive gifts to/from our vendors or business partners. Here’s a reminder of your responsibility to Respect and Protect yourself and our company.
Despite being in lockdown it’s fair to say that many of us have probably made a few unexpected friends over the last few months – the post lady, the Amazon delivery driver, the man from DPD. Given the current situation and the approach of Christmas, chances are we’ll be seeing a lot more of them too. However, before you whip out your corporate card and click ‘buy now’ or run to the kitchen to find some scissors to open an unexpected package you’ve just received, make sure you take a minute to update yourself on the gift policy which can be found in the Code of Conduct section on The Bridge. Here’s a quick reminder of the key points:
Gifts to or from anyone doing or seeking to do business with Carnival UK may be offered or accepted as long as they’re:
- Infrequently offered and legal
- Not solicited
- Valued at no more than $200 USD (approx £150) per year or local equivalent (market value); and
- Not in the form of cash, cheques or gift cards
- If you receive a gift in excess of the above amount, you should return it if possible. If you can’t, please reach out to the Ethics and Compliance Department for additional guidance on disclosure and other obligations.
- If you receive a gift basket or food item that exceeds $200 USD (approx £150) that can be kept as long as you share it with your department. They will love it and you’ll be in compliance as long as you still disclose the gift to the Ethics and Compliance Department.
- Any gifts with a market value under $200 USD (approx £150) or local equivalent, and which meet the other requirements above, can be enjoyed and don’t have to be disclosed.
If you do have any questions or need assistance with the above, please feel free to reach out to us at Ethics@carnivalukgroup.com and please remember you should always Speak Up if you see or suspect any wrongdoing.
