We know many of you are probably thinking ‘how on earth is it almost the end of the year already?’ and ‘where’s 2020 gone?’ – well you’re not alone. As December’s crept up on a lot of us we’ve put together a quick guide to the end of the year – wrapping up all the dates yule need to know…
9:00-10:30 and 11:00-12:30, Thursday 10 December
Simon and the Executive Leadership Team will be updating you on the extraordinary year that has been 2020, where we are as a business today, and most importantly our exciting plans and priorities for our return to service in 2021.
You should have received an email inviting you to choose from one of the two sessions but if you haven't please email internal.comms@carnivalukgroup.com
16:00 - 15 December
As a small token for your hard work, perseverance and determination during what's been an incredibly challenging year, we wanted to get everyone together, albeit virtually, to say thank you for everything you've done in 2020.
You should have received an invite in your diary but if not please contact internal.comms@carnivalukgroup.com
7 - 24 December
Don't forget to book time in with your manager to have a conversation about your 2021 performance goals aligned to the business goals and add them to myHRportal by Christmas Eve.
21 - 31 December
Following the announcement last month, you can now book your extra day's leave in myHR Portal. This can be booked between 21 and 31 December. You'll need to book a day's 'Paid Leave' with the reason 'Company day' for the one you want to take.
Between 17 and 31 December (if you're part-time you're able to take one of your normal working days off). Your chosen day will need to be agreed with your line manager and processed on MyHR portal as 'Paid leave' followed by 'Company day' as the reason.
Make time for wellbeing and doing more of the things that make you happy and healthier. We'll be bringing you lots of festive content and activities to participate in via The Insider, and encourage you to keep an eye out for our top tips and activity suggestions via our 2020 wellbeing advent countdown available on our @CarnivalUKComms Instagram page.
Normally at this time of year you'd be given the opportunity to request to buy or sell holiday. As we know some of you may be carrying over more holiday than you normally would, your decision to buy or sell days could be different this year. That's why we'll still be offering this benefit but will delay the process until April 2021. This will enable you to finish your carry over arrangements of 2020 holiday to 2021.
If you request to buy additional holiday, deductions from salary will be made over eight months rather than the usual 12 - deductions will be larger each month but over a shorter period. Anyone rolling over more than five days into 2021 won't be eligible to sell any holiday.
11 December
Although not everyone will see them you can still in the festive spirit by donning your favourite, fluffy, Fair Isle prints. The more festive the better!
Christmas is the time for giving, lending a helping hand, offering a kind word and supporting others. We've collated a short list of local charities needing support, should you wish to make a donation this Christmas; SCRATCH, Isle of Wight food bank, Trussell trust food banks, Hygiene poverty, Dorset County appeal.
Charity isn't just about giving financially though, it's about supporting those around us in a way that benefits them the most - that could be by helping a neighbour with their food shopping, taking a vulnerable individual to a doctors appointment or taking time to speak to someone who may be feeling isolated and lonely. How will you 'give' this Christmas?
During the Christmas period some of us may give or receive gifts from our vendors or business partners. Click here for a reminder of your responsibility to Respect and Protect yourself and our company.
