It’s almost officially spring and with that often comes a spring clean – well, we’re pleased to tell you that we’re ahead of the game as we’ve already cleared out all non-recyclable Single Use Plastics from the Atrium Cafe front of house!
As you may have seen over the last few months we’ve been #packinginplastics across the Café in order to create a more sustainable environment. Here’s a quick reminder of everything we’ve achieved:
- Removed all single use cups from Carnival House
- Removed disposable cutlery and replaced with reusable metal alternatives
- Removed all single use sachets for condiments & sugar and replaced with refillable dispensers
- All pre-made sandwiches, rolls, flatbreads & baguettes are now prepared in grease proof wrapping, removing the single use plastic packaging
- Soup & porridge plastic lined tasting containers removed from circulation
- Removed soup & porridge single use plastic lined bowls and introduced ceramic bowls including passing on a cost saving to you
- Introduced reusable Premium Salad containers, removing the plastic lined containers including passing on another cost saving to you
- Introduced an rPET recycling waste stream so all dessert, fruit, protein and pre made salad containers can be recycled
- Teapigs & Twinings – plastic free tea introduced
- Introduced milk machines at the hot drinks counter removing the use of four pint bottles
- Refreshed the internal catering & hospitality presentation to remove any single use plastic
- Breakfast preserves & deli bar condiments are now all available in reusable containers
How you can help…
Please make sure to return any of our reusable grab & go salads, dessert, protein or fruit pots to the new break out area ‘return points’ or the Atrium café to be recycled and repurposed as well as our re-usable cutlery. Also, if you’re bringing in your own containers don’t forget there are new cycles on the dishwashers to help you keep them clean!
Thank you again to everyone for embracing these new changes and helping us #packinplastics. Keep an eye out for more information as we continue to look at ways to make us more sustainable.
